Attacking Barbarian Villages is one of the best ways to gain resources, Gold, and Generals score in the early-to-mid game without generating "bash points" (which prevents the enemy from knowing you are attacking). However, the game does a poor job of explaining the hidden mechanics.
If the village is on an island with an active port, you must blockade the port first or your land troops cannot land.
By level 15-20, Catapults become inefficient; switch to Mortars for faster wall destruction.
Never attack the Barbarian Village without Cooks once the fight lasts longer than 2 rounds. Cooks restore troop stamina. If stamina hits zero, your army flees, handing you an instant defeat.
Immediately send a second wave (arriving seconds later).
Introduce Rams to punch through the wall line.
Mandatory from Level 20 onwards. They puncture high-level barbarian walls and wipe out frontline units rapidly.

But let’s be clear: A failed barbarian attack is a disaster. You will lose troops, waste turns, and potentially leave your main city vulnerable to human opponents.
