Dr. Brom dedicated his life to academia, earning his doctorate in universal history from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He began teaching there in 1955 and continued for decades, becoming one of Mexico's most respected professors of universal history and political science. His commitment to teaching was recognized with UNAM's prestigious Premio en Docencia en Ciencias Sociales in 1986, and in 2001 he was named (Professor Emeritus) for his 40 years of service. He passed away in Mexico City on March 28, 2011. Among his other significant works are the didactic "Para comprender la historia" (1972), "Esbozo de historia de México" (1998), and his political autobiography "De niño judío-alemán a comunista mexicano" (2010).
